Dance Teacher's Training - the pedagogy-didactics training program for dance teachers

This almost one-year, part-time training course is based on the studies of Said el Amir, who first completed the Master of Advanced Studies in Dance Science at the Sports Science Institute of the University of Bern / CH and then the Master of Science in Dance Science at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Wolverhampton / UK graduated with honors.

Said then bundled the extremely valuable, theoretical knowledge from these studies into practical, easily implementable seminars and ultimately developed this intensive training program from them. Based on his certificate theses in the areas of " Health & Performance ", " Motor Learning & Motor Control " and " Psychology & Education " and the scientific publications in the field of pedagogy and didactics in dance , this program offers in-depth knowledge about

  • Dance Medicine / Functional Anatomy
  • Learning types & teaching methods
  • Motivation of students
  • Psychology & Adult Education
  • Communication & conflict management
  • Didactic structure of lessons

What this certification training cannot do

This training is currently not recognized by the state. The qualification is similar to that of a private school, the value of which depends solely on the reputation of the school and the lecturers who work there. At the moment there is no officially recognized dance pedagogy training in the so-called ethno-cultural areas (Afro, Oriental, Flamenco, etc.) or jazz dance. We, the jomdance academy, stand with our name and our more than 15 years of experience in dance training in Europe, with over 80 certified graduates in teaching and over 80 certified graduates in the field of jomdance stage dance - some of them internationally successful Active - for the quality of this certificate training.

Goal of the certificate training

The aim of this certificate is to provide students with profound, scientifically based educational and didactic teaching options in all dance areas (except ballet).

To positively differentiate, position and emphasize yourself in your future professional field from "weekend or day training in the field of dance / fitness" and to be prepared for the challenges in the professional field are further goals of this certificate training.

A well-founded education in the field of pedagogy and didactics is essential for every teacher. In adult education in particular, there is currently a large gap between demand and supply. The jomdance academy works according to the principles of the achievement-goal model (Dweck & Elliott, 1983) and the self-determination theory (Ryan & Deci, 2000) with the motto: “ The goal is the task of the students, not the ego of the teacher. “When considering whether participation in the program makes sense, your own future goal should be clearly set.

Who can attend this certificate training course?

The training is suitable for all dancing people who would like to teach or who are already doing this at a lay, amateur or professional level and are looking for scientifically sound input that is imparted in a practical manner!
No university qualifications or other special school knowledge are required. A real interest in the content, openness to new things and the desire to offer good teaching are prerequisites. Furthermore, the participants should have sufficient background knowledge in their field.

For ESTODA graduates:
This training replaces the former module 5 of the ESTODA training and further training. Basic trainers I, II and III can complete their degree here in Grade I, Grade II or Grade III - depending on their previous technical training. Please remember to provide the relevant evidence when uploading the data!

Duration of the certificate training

The training consists of around a third of the training time in online seminars and face-to-face weekends as well as around two thirds of theoretical and practical self-study at home - depending on the type of learner, previous experience, talent and interest in self-study.
There are 90 compulsory hours plus the exam weekend, of which a maximum of 10% may be absenteeism.

Eliana Hofmann

For me, jomdance is inspiration, motivation and a dance challenge! jomdance showed me new possibilities and qualities in oriental dance. Thanks to the work with Said el Amir, I have made higher demands on myself as a professional dancer. I dared to go beyond my own limits and create new paths in dance myself. For me, jomdance means seeing and living dance as an art form!

I never thought,
that this is SO!
The day before yesterday I still had massive doubts, was desperate about my pathetic successes in exercises.
I admire the excellent didactic structure that shows me ways that I didn't even know existed ... Thanks for that!
